The Summer in Review

Whew, what a summer! It has just flown by, with work and we've taken some fun vacations.

The first week of June, for my in-laws' 40th anniversary, we all went to Destin, Florida. It was absolutely beautiful. And not too hot either. We had so much fun and ate some awesome seafood. My sister and brother in law and 7 year old neice and 4 year old nephew also went. It was so much fun with the kids.

Ugh, freaking Blogger won't upload pics right now. Details at ten.

Over the weekend of July 4th, we went on my first backpacking trip! It was much more fun than I thought it would be. We went outside of Durango, CO (actually close to Silverton) to Ice Lake Basin - (the guy on that website has some awesome pictures). The packs were so heavy and I wasn't sure I could make it up the last leg but it was so worth it. The wildflowers were in full bloom and there were waterfalls everywhere. It was breathtaking. I'll give more details when I can upload pictures.

Had a great weekend this past one. A friend of my husband's who we haven't gotten to hang out with for quite a while came up from Houston and we got to spend the weekend together. He flew up and on Sunday we wen't flying. It was so much fun, I've never flown in a little plane like that before. It was amazing.
We also went to see Clerks 2. It was hilarious. Raunchy but oh so funny. And they re-wrote Jay and Silent Bob's characters, I heard because Jason Muse (Jay) is sober now so they took out the heavy drug influence (sorta). With as much as sequels usually suck, I was very impressed.

On the needles, I'm still re-working Mom's Green Gable (for about the 5th time). Hopefully this one will turn out better.
I did have to take a little break and make some DW Dishcloths. I love that pattern.

I also had a chance recently to clean out all the crap in the spare room, much of which was yarn. I have pics of that too. I could make squares all day for weeks and still have a bunch of stinking acrylic yarn left from my new to fiber days when I apparently feared some drastic yarn shortage. It's bad. But I did have some good stuff and even a project I forgot about. I'll share when Blogger cooperates. And I have so many things I want to make! If I can just get these Green Gables done!
